How To Begin Accomplishing Your Goals When You're Afraid

"Hey! How are you?"


"Oh, I hear you. How are you?

"Busy but I'm on my grind."

These conversations are prevalent, these days. You've had them. I've had them. We are all busy but not always productive. Sometimes the busyness is an escape from entering into the the fear that lies behind our need to succeed.

There are 2 ways to attack your goals. Physically and emotionally. Our culture seems to put a lot of emphasis on physically achieving goals by how we celebrate busyness and #teamnosleep. This isn't to say that we shouldn't physically be working to achieve our goals. We absolutely should. But emotional work must be done in order to achieve. 

The emotional work we do is a huge component of our ability to excel. Emotional work involves introspection, honesty, self-trust, and self-compassion. Through personal experience, I've learned that this is the hardest part of starting. I had to ask myself, "Can you be honest with yourself, Satoya? Can you voice what you are really afraid of so that you can overcome it?" Through practicing introspection and honesty, I'm learning to trust myself more because I have learned to be honest with me. 

Introspection isn't for the faint of heart. It will demand everything of you and from you. With every sting, twinge of discomfort, and deceptive call to denial brings an opportunity to flourish and to love deeply and truthfully.

This emotional work will bring you to your knees to answer for yourself. Why do you want success? Why are you striving for achievement? How will you contribute to the world through your experience and attainment?

So let me ask you, what are you really afraid of?

If you can be brave, your heart work will bring you deeper than you've ever been, which can thrust you higher than you ever thought possible.
